The 2008 Borough Council elections for Kidsgrove have brought about change. The long term Labour Councillor Margaret Astle has been unseated by a relatively new comer to the political scene. Whitehill Online has had the pleasure of catching up with your new councillor, enabling us to find out a little bit more about what we can expect from Cllr Morrey. On thing is for certain, as she is a local resident though and though, the people of the Kidsgrove ward will be well represented. When asked about her initial response on hearing that she had won the seat and the right to represent the local residents of Kidsgorve, Cllr Morrey said “The sucess of being elected as the 3rd Lib Dem Borough Councillor for Kidsgrove was more than I dared to wish for. I owe it to the excellent support I received from my Lib Dem collegues and also my son and friends that gave time to help with my campaign. After saying that, I wouldnt have made it without voters making the effort on Thursday. Thank you to everyone involved. When asked about what we can expect on the political front, Cllr Morrey says “I have my own views, but I want to know more individual opinions, there is no point in me making proposals that I feel are right if residents don’t, I need to use my position to improve Kidsgrove as the people living in Kidsgrove want it to be.” Finally as with all local Cllrs, we are pleased to have the input of Cllr Morrey. When asked about the local site she remarked “I think that this site is great, there are so many points of view and as a new councillor I am trying to absorb the different opinions that residents of Kidsgrove have. I see people out in the town but on here, the smallest of issues can be made just as a 'by the way'.
Existing councillors Mary Maxfield and Sandra Bowyer has the following to say about Cllr Morrey, "Sandra and I are delighted that Tina has been elected to serve as a
Kidsgrove Ward Councillor. She is a very enthusiastic, caring and an
intelligent young lady who cannot wait to get started. She has the
community at heart. For quite a while she has been having discussions
with us about issues in the Ward and has contributed many ideas. Now
she is official and can take an active part in local government. Cllr Morrey can be contacted via the traditional method of telephone, where residents can leave a message on the answer phone if unavailable. However like all local Councillors on this site Cllr Morrey can be contacted by email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or via our forum boards .
