 Tina Morrey your new Borough Councillor.
The 2008 Borough Council elections for Kidsgrove have
brought about change. The long term Labour Councillor Margaret Astle has been
unseated by a relatively new comer to the political scene.
Whitehill Online has had the pleasure of catching up with
your new councillor, enabling us to find out a little bit more about what we
can expect from Cllr Morrey. On thing is for certain, as she is a local
resident though and though, the people of the Kidsgrove ward will be well
represented.

 Following the election on Thursday it appears that people are not impressed with the new venues. The main concerns seem to come from residents who used the Birchenwood pavilion. It appears that this was used for 2 wards (Kidsgrove and Ravenscliffe) placing everyone in one small room.
It appears that this is not popular with voters and we will be interested to see if this will be changed in time for next years elections?

The polls have now closed all over the area and it will be tomorrow morning when the votes will be counted. Personally this is a let down, as I quite enjoyed the late nights viewing the tv and all the political changes which will take place. It appears that the turnout could be very poor. The results are now being published. The first of the local results is the Butt Lane ward, in which the Lib Dems have taken from Labour. The exact results are published below; |
