Its good to see that most pot holes are being replaced, however many of the smaller ones are being left on the same roads. I dont understand the point of this as these will only form wider holes and then have to be replaced at a later date. Why not do it all in one go?

Its also good to see that Market Street is having the pavement done.

Vine Bank Road is particularly bad again with loads more pot holes opening up. Seems like the quick fix hasnt actually worked.

Ive noticed that more and more are appearing again. It seems to be the case that the fixes that the council have completed, have failed. This again highlights the poor standard of work and the wasting of public funds. It must be scary to think how much a well run council could save!

Can I ask a question why the online reporting system does not seem to be providing proper reference numbers to then use to check up with?

I have found this many times and am starting to question if this online system is actually working as I have reported many problems and nothing is being done.

Are there any plans to replace the surface on any of the roads in the local area over the spring/summer months? Just that we seem to have many holes, some larger than others and it some cases it is the need for a new surface and not the constant patching and repairing.

Rather than me reporting highway issues over the telephone or e.mail I drove around with a highways officer and pointed out various things. In particular I have asked for the speed cushions in Newchapel Road, Gloucester Road and Whitehall avenue to be repaired properly. I did ask him if they would take them out but no reply. It isnt his job to make this decision. Grass verges in Newchapel Road and the narrow part of Whitehill Road were highlighted and the officers says that he will almost certainly dig out the verge on Whitehill Road and lay stones. They will not tarmac.

I also took him along Vine Bank Road and the centre of Kidsgrove. Hopefully he will do something about the complaints. I will be on his back until he does.

There are no plans for any resurfacing in the capital programme at the moment.

That sounds promising. Im impressed that you have managed to get the officer to come out with you as I have been making the same offer / request, never to hear anything from it. The local officer now cant even be bothered to call me back, despite being assured that he will - the whole service in highways at Staffordshire CC is a complete farce and needs to be restructured and organised.

The waste that must be taking place must be massive and it seems like no one is accountable once jobs are reported - hence why work is either of a poor standard or never actually completed.

Its getting worse at the moment. We have the old holes opening up all over the place. Vine Bank Road has become a road that you would expect to find in India.

It was interesting to read in the press that the average pot hole costs £68 to fix, however only lasts for 14 days because the job isnt done properly, so requires the council to revisit and do the same task over and over again.

What is annoying me at the moment is the fact that all of these roads seem to be falling apart, the repairs are only temporary and not lasting, however they are not resurfacing roads. This surly is just making the pot hole problem worse and worse.

Vine Bank Road is a appalling. I cant believe how bad it is with all those holes one after another. I thought this road had been completed?
