02 UK Launch Plans To Erect Mobile Phone Mast In The Area
The mast it can be assumed will be used to house O2's new 3G network as the area currently has good mobile coverage via the GSM "standard" network. Below is a little bit of information about how the 3G technology works. What is 3G Technology?Unlike the current GSM technology which uses a wavelength between 1847 - 1877MHz, 3G technology uses shorter wavelengths 2160 - 2170MHz. This difference enables the network to have greater bandwidth, thus enabling more features to be carried out on your mobile phone. 3G also uses lower power levels which means the system will have to work over shorter ranges. This will result in more masts being needed. As a 'rule of thumb', where the existing system uses four mobile phone masts to cover an area, 3G will need about five masts. How To ObjectIf you want to object, you need to act fact as the application is been considered at Newcastle Council's Planning Committee on 14 December 2004 and a decision will be communicated to the applicant by 11 January 2005.
