Vodaphone Mobile Phone Mast on Mount Road

Vodaphone Mobile Phone MastWhitehill Online has contacted Daly International the development agency for the proposed Vodaphone 3G Mobile Phone “Street Works” mast and base station on Mount Road in Whitehill, Kidsgrove. Below we publish some the more specific details about the scheme and enclose details on how you can have your say on the issue.

The Plan

Vodaphone wants to expand its coverage of its 3G mobile phone coverage to the Kidsgrove area, this has led to the company looking at suitable relevant sites. The company considered and rejected the following four other proposed sites;

- Suncrest Surrounds LTD
- Electro Lite, Rookery Works
- Marry Hill High School
- Street Works Lapwing Road

There are various different reasons why each of the above sites could not be selected including problems with the Site Provider, Technical Difficulties and Planning difficulties.

The Street Works plan on Mount Road has been selected because “it is on the periphery of vast residential land use but the visual impact will be limited because of open fields towards the south. “This will help provide the necessary coverage whilst avoiding the potential impact on the wider residential land use of Kidsgrove” (Daly International, 2005)

Environmental Damage

Daly International suggests that consideration has been given to the local properties affected, as a dense line of trees and shrubbery provide screening of the ground base and the lower part of the monopole. The mast has also been sited so that it is at the gable end of the dwellings – thus reducing the visual impact.

Site Plan

The 12m monopole will contain tri-sector antennas which will be placed at the following orientations 90, 210 and 330. The monopole will be sited directly opposite the existing Birchenwood car park and contain two separate cabinets installed at the site of the pavement.

Comments/Objections
